Since the tires that come off these old tractors are usully beyond repair or worn like the 8 ball I would like to try to harden some newer ones.Is this a deep dark trade secret or is it within the capabilities of mere mortal tractor pullers?Thank you.

Don't have any idea if this will work or not, just sharing what a Firestone dealer told me. He said to place the new tires on a shingled roof over the winter turning them every other month and the reflective heat with the sun will bake the tires and weather won't hurt the tires because only exposed about 6 months. The dealer has pulled and been involved with pulling for years and comes highly recomended. I don't have any plans to try this myself because I know with out any doubt what would happen if I did and the older I get the less I like pain!!!

Some truck puller"s around buy a extra set of tires and put them on the top of grain dryers for a season and they claim its works.

Well I guess I can give mt two cents worth. Nobody in the tire makeing industry will say it does any good.It is expensive for one and I dont think anybody pulling anything that has less than about 80 mph wheel speed need waste their money. All it does is take the oil out of the tire. The big mod guys say it makes the edge last longer for them. But they push tire beyond the limits!!. So in answer to your question -no I wouldnt do it. But just my two cents!!

Well, its one of those things, if you are going to do it, plan on going into the business of doing it. It is not a project you will get involved in just to do one set or so for yourself, know what I mean? If you don't do it right, I have seen some real disasters come out of it too.
