looking for how to get the cam shaft and the gear aligned correctly, is there a timing mark on the cam shaft that would line up with the gear? Thanks

I thought the bolt pattern was set up so that it would only bolt up one way.

I don't believe so. The holes are equally spaced, which is why the manuals recommend marking the camshaft and gear upon disassembly.

Not unless someone put one there when the gear was removed.
