You should use the one for a C175 although I think the cam for the SH-350 were the same.

Cheers!

Sid

Sid,Some people tell me to have a custom grind and some say just to use the 350 cam, I am hoping to make around 50 Hp BUT if I can get More thats a bonus!

I'm not sure about the cam grind. I mostly read that one should use the stock 350 cam for a close to stock engine with 10-20% over stock RPM. I'm not experienced enough yet to say what to do.

What I have done to my H is I found a C169 (300) engine and put a C175 (350) rebuild kit in it. I took the 300 head and had new valves put in and shaved 0.100. It was hot tanked and checked for cracks first. I then gasket matched the intake and exhaust ports on the head and new aftermarket manifold. I got a carb off of an M and drilled out the jet 5 sizes larger than stock and drilled out the bottom two holes on the metering stem 3 sizes larger. I also put a #27 venturi in it. I put lighter springs in the distributor from a Chevy recurve kit and set the timing on the dyno where in made the most HP. It sounds like it is labouring a bit at idle. The most I can get out of her is 42 HP right now. I still think that there is alot more to get out of her as a buddy of mine did the exact same thing but never shaved the head. Not sure what he did to the carb but he is getting the same HP. I figured that the extra compression would have gotten me close to 5 HP extra than him but it didn't. I have 185-187 PSI of compression right now and running 100LL fuel.

Let me know what your plans are for your engine.

Cheers!

Sid

Well my plans are almost the same as yours,I have a 350 Block and piston kit, The stock 8043DC head and and aftermarket manifold that i needed to rework both 16 hrs with my die geinder to make them flow any where near what I thought they should,Cut the head .030 with a 3 angle valve job,and the Cam ? Well i think i will go with the 350 cam and put some Murphys roller rockers on it , the carb is a stock M carb until i find out how it will respond to the engine, And the Distubitor i want to put pertronics ign in it and a differnt spring in it but a stiffer one than you used , the lite spring in my super C hurt the Loug and every time the advance came back it would fall on its face and die and the stock one was better at stock RPMs and kept alive until the end of the track! Did you try to adjust the carb on yours on the Dino? Too rich or lean will hurt your HP , Try the Heaviest spring in your Kit for your Distrubitor and set it on the Dino I bet you will like the drivility and results better, I Did!! And what about your spring in the Gov did you put a stiffer one in it? This all may help you get the most out of your H. Cliff

I think the problem your having with your H is that the jet in the carb is too big, you should stick with the stock 350 carb, my H is 220 cubes and with an oversize jet it was about 10-15 hp less than with the stock one. As for the cam i wouldnt worry about getting one ground because with a good spring in the govner and a stock cam you can turn about 3000 rpms. Hope this helps both of you
