I have a set of 16.9/38 armstrong long bar, long bar tires that are woren but does not have a sharp tread. My neighber has a set of long bar, short bar 15.5/38 that are road wore and has a very sharp tread would the 15.5/38 with the long bar short bar tread that is sharp be better on my farmall 400. I am 19 years old and starting to tractor pull and need some advice. Most people pull with long bar long bar. Theses 15.5/38 long bar short bar tires are very sharp would they be worth buying.

I have 15-5-38 on my John Deere G they are long bar, short bar armstrongs road wore. Not much tread on the back side and about 1/2 to 3/4 inch on the front side. These tires work excellent. Some tracks it will kill my G in the 7500 pound class in first gear.

Personally I'd check the heighth and count the number of bars you'll have on the ground at once. If it were me, and I already had the armstrongs on, I'd find a place to tie the front of my tractor down {carefully}, and gengerly spin my 16.9's backwards on conctrete to sharpen them up, then you'd have the best of both worlds in a sharp set of armstrong tires that are taller than the other set. If the long bar short bars are 8 ply sidewalls, they might not be too bad. I tryed a set of 6 ply's once, and they buckled bad, I would loose draw bar, and then I'd spin out, all this with 17 pounds of air in them. It's up to you, but like others have stated I like the tallest tires the tractor will spin out with. good luck in your pulling. Greg H.

use your armstrongs never the less you will have more rubber on the ground the long bar short bar will dig to deep thus you have a big pile of dirt infront of the sled to pull

When looking tires you also need to look at height because that will change more than the bar setup will and not all brands are the same. Ken
