I just purchased a 88 row crop, which my first oliver. It runs like a top. I checked the compression last night - it pumped 140-145 psi on all cylinders. Is this normal stock reading, or do I possibly have high altitude pistons? What kind of horsepower can I expect with this engine properly tuned? It runs great so I don't really want to tear down the engine, any little tricks to get the most out of this motor? I will probably pull it some 5000 or 5500 farm or super farm. Thanx

That is good compression for a stock 88. could be highdome pistons. were all the cyls within a 10% variance?? That is something you would like to see. Put a 1650 manifold and a little bigger Zenith on it and you probably have 55 to 62 horse. A good cam in that motor would really help you hold on to the HP that you have as you get down the track. I have carbs and intakes, let me know if you need any parts or info. good luck and have fun !!
