Hey chad could you post a picture of your 460 hood? and also do you have a truck head on your 460? I am wanting to build a 460,the old M's are becoming out classed around this area with the 460/560 tractors coming out on the track.

Next best to a 460-560 would be a SMTA-450. Bout 100-125 hp stroker would run with a 6 cyl. Darn near the same as the early 560, if not identical. Probably be worth more value wise too,,, and have less money in building it. My 460 is a hybrid, I built it to run with the ollies that like to run 3500#, where the H was limited to rpm. I was gonna run a truck head, but did not have all the parts to complete the swap. Its worth the effort if you have the parts, makes a high compression engine real quick. Click the link to see the tractor, I have pictures of the head too if you wanna see them too. Chad

thanks for the picture Chad, ya I have thought of building a 400 but the guys with the 460/560 tractors are running 301 combine moters with big zenith carbs and dyno out at about 150-160 hp at 3000+rpms. In the area we can pick up a running 715 combine for $800 orless, thanks for your input.

I hear ya on that one. Modern comforts. It can be tough to beat a high rpm engine in certain situations. They say,,,,the IH 6 cyl, was the engine, that outclassed them all. Ill find out soon enough. 301's are cheap HP. Chad

ya you hit the nail right on the head there, I am going to buy a 301 and put it in a 560, do you think that the stock clutch will hold up for one season? want just to get it on the track and run it a year and then get a button clutch new ta and lighten it to pull 5500lbs give er a new paint job and go.

Id go ahead and put a clutch in it while your swapping engines. that way when your restoring the 560, you wont have to tear the engine out of it again. JMHO, Chad
