No we don't neccessarily need a JD only pulling forum, or a Farmall, Oliver etc.

What we really need is a "COLOR WAR!" forum for all the people who always want to poke, prod and bash each other over such silly stuff. It will get them out of the way for people who have more important things to say.

I never met an old tractor I didn't appreciate. I can't truly say the same for some of the tractors owners.

I, myself am completely color blind, I like 'em all.

Man, I thought there was some decent people on here that are now bashing other colors of tractors. It pains my heart to see all of you resorting to the ways of the "other" people. Can we all agree that pulling is a fun sport, fun to watch, and just have fun doing it? I am an avid Farmall fan, owning one myself, but I enjoy to see the two poppers pull as well as the olivers and the allis's. I have seen all be beaten by the other. A little ribbing and fun is ok. Let's all grow up a little and be sportsmen.

54SMTA is right, I run all jd's but it's all about having fun, sure I'd rather win more, but I'm learning to be good at doing both. All brands win when it comes to pulling in my book.

Like the others have stated... All brands and opinions is what makes pulling fun... If it was only one brand pulling it would take from the fun... Don't get me wrong.. I'm always up for a little farmall bashing from time to time.. but if someone with a farmall is broke at a pull, I'll be the first to help or offer tools or parts to get them going again.. To me that's what Antique Tractor Pulling is about... JDGnut

Ask a question, reply to a question, or SHUT UP!
And no I don't pull green, but I like to hear what's inside some of them or tricks that they do to make them better. At times I've been able to help my friends with thier tractors with stuff that was on this forum. You sound like a bitter man. What's wrong, did you get beat?!?

I agree with Rman, we don't want, need or care about your opinion. Doesn't it make you a little mad that no matter how much you rip on Deeres, they're still by far the most popular tractor out there? I guess the tractors speak for themselves, not some idiot like you. Go try to stir up trouble somewhere else, or go to a pull and prove yourself. By the way, I would LOVE to see a Deere- only pulling forum, and especially a G-only forum, it would save me a lot of time sorting through info I don't want or need.

Hey G-man if John Deeres were so great why did they copy the six cylinders? I can tell you they would have been bankrupt very quickly if they hadnt replaced those jokes of a tractor.

John Deere is the most popular tractor, Farmall is second, oliver and AC are about tied then the others fall in. This is all pretty much a fact of most, I say most pulls, and shows. They have the most known structure, supported by the mother company, the two cylinder club and it's publications. You don't see this from any other tractor companies, I know there are other clubs and rallies, but two cylinder is world renound, fact. You have a hard time seeing any JD items for sale that don't say "official licensed product" . When do you see that on any other tractor products. Further, let's all agree that John Deere invented the walking plow, thus putting farming where it is today, fact. What company has never been sold, traded, went under and so on, John Deere, fact. As far as being behind by holding on to the 2 cyl. design, again, fact, it worked and it worked very well. The first diesel to set a fuel economy record that stood until beaten by yet another john deere model. This brings us to the 3020-4020 that were advertised and greatly agreed upon that these units were years ahead of there time, fact. If you go to a sale and one of these tractors is for sale, they sell for as much or more than they did new, given the proper condition , fact. People want these to use in modern farming, even today, they represent a tremendous value, while still being fully functional. I like all tractors, I like JD the best, but you must give credit where credit is due. History does tell the story.

So Real Puller, why is is that you're too scared to post your e-mail address? And do you mean those jokes of tractors as in two-cylinders? Sure is funny how those "jokes" were basically the state of the art for about 50 years. The moral of the story is, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. As for the six-cylinder comment, it was simply going to have to be too large of a two-cylinder engine to meet the horsepower requirements of the day. And it sure is nice how JD jumped into 4 and six cylinder engines and quickly started dominating that arena also. As soon as you can bring some FACTS to the table, I'll be more than happy to value your opinion. Until then, don't waste my time.

G-Man -

Let me start by saying that I don't care about all of this color war crap.

BUT, you talk about Real Puller bringing facts to the table and not opinions: it is YOUR OPINION that the two cylinder Deere tractors were "State of the Art" for fifty years! Look at the Oliver 6 cylinder (now standard in all field tractors) and their "ground breaking" six speed transmission, look at the Farmall with the TA (eventually led to power shift transmissions), look at the overall durability and modularity of Moline tractors (a manufacturers dream come true), look at Ferguson's draft control (of which a modern day version is now standard on all tractors),etc. I think it is unfair and untrue to say that Deere tractors were THE State of the Art for all fifty years. These are the type of FACTS that you are looking for and did not present yourself.

I have submitted my email so you and others would consider this a credible post.

those jokes of tractors were doing just fine and were even with all the other tractors until everyone else started going bigger. Once that happened JD had no choice but to go with 6.

You guys don't need your own forum because you have more fans of Deere which get picked for stories like this one. So I dont think you need one of your own. Yes, theres two Deeres in our famly so I am not being one sided. Both get pulled so I can relate to this.

Hey G-Man as for John Deere they dont dominate anything. As for your opinion, I value it none. Those two cylinders were a joke and many people know it. This forum has become a crutch for Deere pullers to try to find a way to win. So you guys keep up all the poor work, we will keep laughing. You guys will only be able to say John Deere is still owned by them for a short time, at this moment Caterpillar is buying them out. As for their progress, JD looked and seen how far behind they really were, then copied 6 cylinders.

They sure did sell a lot of them to be a joke. There sure is a lot still around to be a joke. And on top of it all, they were just as good as any other tractor in its time period. That's pretty amazing, especially being a joke. Oh yeah, and once they copied the sixes, they stayed just as popular as ever. talk about a joke

Hmmmm. Still no e-mail address, still no facts, still no clue...looked and seen how far behind they were? It's good to know you're an educated individual. So tell us, all knowing one, what brand of tractor do you prefer? Or do you even own one? Or do you just drive your daddy's? Get a life little guy. Don't try to match wits unless you have some.

LET'S keep it nice... Talk like this does no one good. A man can think what he wants this is the U.S.A.

Deere just did not jump into the 4 and 6 cyl. a lot of planning from the end of w.w.II to 1960 went into the new tractor. The two bangers did a good job of spaning the time for John Deere to produce a tractor ahead of it's time.
