If you have a "stock" cam that you believe has little to no wear you should have it checked on a Cam Doctor that will give you the Durations @ .050 tappet lift as the stock cams were ground with much ramp to be long lasting, Total duration is a very skeptical number to deal with. You could have to lobes with the same seat duration that would be 20 deg. differance at .050 tappet lift....

You make a very good point that not that many people realize. You can have 5 different camshafts that all card the same, even have the same @.050" numbers, but all become very different at .100, .200 lifts etc. And when you throw rocker arm ratio and roller grinds in the picture everything changes again.

JUST TO A READING OF A SM-450 EXHAUST LOBE.

DID IT FAST AN SLOPPY, GOT TO GO TO BED .

CAME UP WITH .263 , SO THE BAKE LIFT ON EXHAUST # LOOKS FINE TO ME

CAM DOCTOR ! aNOTHER AWESOME TOOL , NEVER HEARD OF IT !

ALL I CAN SAY IS IN THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS, BAKER AS EXPOSED ME TO TECHONOLOGY, THAT I COULD NOT REPEAT. CHADS----LW GIVE BAKER A CALL, HE COULD EMAIL YOU STUFF AND SHOW YOU PICTURES OF THINGS THAT MY MIND CAN BARELY COMPREHEND !

The first time I talked to Gary It was a short 2 hr conversation we both face a lot of the same issues and agree on a lot, He is sharp and is doing a ton of work to those red tractors, He probably puts more work into a carb then alot of guys would do on an entire engine, I would like to do cam for him and see If I could make him some improvements. It might not but I think outside the box.

Hey Chad, I measured the lift on a stock 'M' cam and cam up with totally different numbers than you have! Intake lift @ lifter is .270 & exhaust
was .265 Gary

ESPICIALLY LOBE SEPERATION !!!

LOOKS LIKE A FIELD ECONOMY CAM ! FUEL MILAGE !
