I would like someone to help me understand the intent of rule #19 and#20 .It seems to me that they are trying to make it unfair for a variety of tractor to pull with a speed limit then, a 1st gear only rule, then a gps to stop "sand bagging".I want to pull with them but my tractors only go 1.7 mph in 1st gear.I know alot of the Oakley bunch read this forum could you help understand how this is a fair solution to quit the dyno and go to this is confusing. Or maybe not maybe you dont care to have myself and others that pull Cockshutts pull with you.Let me know.

19. A 3 MPH speed limit will be enforced. tractors will pull in first gear , low range. Tractors with torque amplifiers etc, can pull in direct drive or under drive. NO shifting of TA’s etc. allowed “On The Go”. While pull is in motion.
20. There will be a 75 foot speed limit cone. “TRACTORS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO BLOW THE HORN AFTER THAT POINT”. Any tractor blowing the horn after that point will be disqualified. Any tractor thought to be “SAND BAGGING” , holding back and throttling up toward the end of the pull, will be checked off track with a hand held GPS unit. Any tractor exceeding 3MPH off track while being tested will be disqualified

HEAVY PULLER:
YOU HAVE A RULE THAT STATES 3MPH
YOU HAVE ANOTHER RULE THAT STATES FIRST GEAR !

VERY GOOD RULES !

YOU ALSO HAVE GPS ! (WOW) ALSO SAND BAGGING !
THAT'S A TERM FOR CHEATERS WHO ACCUSE NON CHEATERS WHEN THEY WIN ONCE IN AWHILE !

MY SUGGESTION ! CHANGE FIRST GEAR RATIO TO RUN ABOUT 3.4 AT HI IDLE ! (IF YOUY HAVE ENOUGH JUICE !)

NOTHING IN THE RULES SAY ANYTHING ABOUT RATIO'S !
(CORRECT)
iT'S A BOUBLE SET OF RULES FOR FIRST GEAR PULLING FOR THE FAST AND THE EXPENSCIEVE !

DO AS THE BORED MEMBERS DO ! BUMP THE HORN BEFORE THE CONE AND LAY ON THE MOTOR ON THE BACK END ! (REMEMBER - YOU GOT TO HAVE THE JUICE !

CHANGE A GEAR RATIO !!!!!

THEY DO IT ALL THE TIME ON THE DC CASE'S !

(SPROCKETS)

JUST AN OPINION OF THE SITIATION !!!

Read the rule, Bernie!!! If you go 3.4 at high idle, you will fail the GPS test and be disqualified...

If your tractor only goes 1.7 then thats all you have. A common practice is to throttle back to set your speed at 3mph before 75 feet then apply throttle as the load comes on to maintain 3mph down the track. In 1st gear my tractor blows the 3mph horn so I have to idle back part way down the track in a 3mph class. I think you are over analyzing the rules. Go and pull and have fun!

Your right Amos I just wanted to be competitive and I dont think I can with you having more than twice the wheel speed I will have.So you have fun and I will donate to others with fair rules.Oh Bud I got the grunt the rules just wont let me run 3rd gear and my pocket wont allow the pinion option.

Heavy Puller, I kind of mistook your meaning at first, didn't mean to treat you like a dumby, Some tractors like the Cockshutts, 400 Case or creaper JD's should be able to pull in a gear that is equal to other's 1st gear. The low gear rule is a dumb one, a holdback from the 1980's Regulate it by ground speed, rpm's ect. By the way a CC/DC Case will make over 3mph with the standard 38t sprockets and oversized tires.

What about swapping a transission/rear end from a four speed 30 to your front frame? What about swapping the gears around inside the transmission to put third where first should be.

Not reading your mind, but I have been around pulling and racing long enough to know how the story goes. It's amazing what can be done if you are willing to get creative. A number of industrial versions of some tractors have a completely different shift pattern and the list goes on...

Am I understanding this correct; that if your tractor even has the CABIBLITY of going over 3mph in low gear, then you get the big DQ?
