My son just turned 12 and can pull in our local 3400lb stock class. There are very few in that class but we have never seen an 8-N Ford pull before. It runs good,it has water in the tires but no wheel wts. How do they do at pulls? Is there anyone pulling one in your area? Thank you. Mike.

Pull the sleeves out and put pistons where the sleeves go, still you will most likely be shy of power. Good tractor though.

Mike,
I've seen them try to pull, but the lowest weight class around here is 5,000 pounds, so that's kinda heavy for an 8-N. You and your dad might need to build some forward wieght brackets to hold the front ends down. The 8-N's I've seen pull want to rare the front in the air, due to their short wheel base. That's alittle more excitement than a young man like yourself needs, until you get some experience. Get it set up with an pulling draw bar, and have your dad help you with a front weight system, put it in first gear, and have some fun. Post back later in the year, and tell everyone how you've done. Good Luck, Greg H.

We pull a 8n around N.E. ind & do quite well. We pull anywhere from 2700 - 3500. You need to get rid of the fluid & run a lighter class. Theres not a lot of 8ns pulling because they have such high gears. We run div. 2 with a 3mph. limit. Unless you have a step down transmission 1st. gear is around 3.7mph. This really hurts because you can't use all your rpms. & that is where fords get most of their hp. On real sticky tracks we usually run a coupla hundred lbs. light & lower the drawbar to let the tires slip so the engine doesn't bog down so easy. Works for us.
