I just got my Farmall H running after i bored the block to 3 5/8 ported the head and put in a hot cam. My problem is im still running the small H carb. When the tractor is running and i pull the throtle back it misses and pops? What can I do to the carb to get more fuel if thats the problem. Does enyone have a Super H, or an M carb they would want to sell? How much Cranking compression should it have with the dome pistons also? if enyone knows what wrong eny information would help.
Thanx

Miles

find a superH -350 manifold and governor to carb tube assembly. can then use 300/m through 350/450 carb. the m-450 carb will give you additional power, but all depends on rpms, cam, etc. note: the venturi on a H carb is 24/32" id, a super-H is 23/32" id (actually smaller), m-450 is 27/32"id, main jet drill size runs from #72-#75 numerical drill for h-450,(not much difference, if you drill out main jet go slow in small increments. i've done alot of farmall carbs and big main jet isnot the answer for horsepower. until the fuel discharge is increased along w/ all carb internals, big main jet=too much fuel, black smoke, poor power.
my highly modified m carb (for 125hp M puller) was drilled to #98 drill as i recall.

Drill out the load jet with wire bits a size or two at a time until you get enough fuel. P.S.- As for crabs, a friend of mine caught em once, didn't want to spend money for crab shampoo so he doused the area with diesel fuel, It killed them!!

Stay away from those girls from Laurel.

Might need to move the timing if you didn't already. It should still run OK with that carb, but not to full potential. Find a bigger venturi to put in the carb, makes a big difference.

Geeez, I hope you mean Carb problems...cause if you don't this is sure the wrong webside. Might reccomend some brake cleaner, cause it kills most anything else it ends up on..

AS far as the motor goes, if you want to play the game, you are gonna have to get the tools. Invest in a $25 compression tester. Its hard to tell where your compression should be, because I don't know if the head was decked or the block, but I think a really healthy 3.6325 motor should be around 150 maybe? Open up the hi speed jet all the way, and crack the idle jet open a bit more. Personally, I'd pay special attention to the valves...it does not take much to make a diference sometimes...It should run ok on a stock H carb, enough to run smoothly..AC
