How is a C rearend built? Is it like the H and M with bull gears and brake drums or is it like teh little tractors with just a ring and pinion to the axle shaft? Was looking to build one for a puller but wanted to know how sturdy the rear end is on one and if it would hold up to 75 horses.

Ours is about 220 cubes and makes an honest 80 on the dyno. There are some mods to do to the tranny to get it to hold. Give me your email and i'll see if i can't point you in the right direction

Not to be nosey but how are you getting 75 horse out of a "C" ?? I'm wanting to build a "C" myself but 75 horse seems to be far fetched, not saying it can't be done. That will be about 55 horse above stock.

I am not getting 75 horses yet. I havent even got the tractor. I am pulling an H now with a 230 inch motor and I am getting well over 75 or at least that is what my dyno says. I think 75 is plenty doable for a C but just wanted to know if the rearend had enough meat. Does anyone know how big the C"s are out there. Max engine size? I just moved to a new house and my neighbor has one sitting behind his house that looks like it is in great condition. All bearings would be replaced. Looking for a tactor for teh light classes below 3500 and just want to stay red, I know orange will make it with a bigger engine but I like red.

They will Hold more than 75HP IF you make sure that the 60 year old berings in the tranny/rear end are tight and like other high Hp tractors you need to replace them or risk the slop missalinging the gears and breaking them! And the Cs are bull gears and are fine Unless you put that power to work over 6000lbs class like one here then you will break things!!!
