I built a farmall H with 3 5/8 bore with slite dome, mild cam, and ported the head. It has about 4 hours on it now and im only getting 125 cranking psi. Should this be up in the 15 to 160. Is the engien not broke in good enough or do i have another problem? Is there enything else i can do to it to geta little more power? Does enyone have the steps to run an H on alky?

Thanx Miles

I got one with 3 5/8 also. 350 head, cam and crank. Head shaved .080 When it was first built it had 155 across the board. To tell you the truth i havent checked it since.

I built a 3 9/16 bore H. It had 125 pressure until it was broken in. Be patient and run it a few more hours. Mine now has 175-180. Head shaved 100 thousandths. Look in a spark plug hole and see if cylinder wall still has hone marks. Hope this helps.

Your camshaft profile and how it is timed can effect your cranking compression. If your camshaft has a bunch of overlap, this may be attributing to your lower cranking compression readings.

Did a H without sleeves and 3 9/16 IH pistons, shaved the head .035 and built wrist pin bushings real close to specs and got 165# straight through. Runs good with 350 manifold and M carb at stock rpms.

Yea, that seems alittle low, Our Super H, has the 3 9/16" pistons and its got 145lbs of compression. The only thing I can say is did you check your valves to make sure there seating nice and tight. Or maybe it needs to be run more to seat the rings better? Andrew

To me what you got sounds about right. Want more power? Stroke it.
