Will a John Deere "A" or "G" carb bolt up to a John Deere "B"? If they will not bolt bolt up, what modifications would it take. Or could I just get the stock carb modified to handle 309-330 c.i.d? Also, I eas wondering if I should just stick to the "oil bath" air cleaner, or if I should switch to a paper or similar type air cleaner. Thanks for any info.

I AGREE WITH TODD AND TROY.YOU SHOULD GO WITH PAPER OR FOAM FILTER.YOU NEED TO RUN IT TO WHERE IT CAN GET THE COLDEST AIR POSSIBLE.

Yes to your first two questions, and an paper filter will offer less resitance the the old oil bath

I agree with Todd. Also getting rid of the oilbath filter will give you more HP. Depending on brand 2 to 5 HP on dyno.

an A carb will fit but be careful not to go hog wild with fuel. i have an early "A" carb on mineand I have no problems, but mines balanced and bored .125. I can run 2500 rpm with the "A" carb and she really comes to life. I run a K&N air cleaner on mine I got at a honda shop made to fit a 400 EX 4-wheeler with a 3 inch inlet. they all say wa need it above the hood to draw cooler air and their all right but a JDB doesnt run very hot anyway and I never noticed a diference and put it back right in front of the carb. good luck
