A few years back at the columbus site it was rare to have a class under 15-20 tractors if I remember correctly - now the biggest classes only have 15-20 tractors. What's the hang up? I realize COATPA doesn't have the expense involved at the new site - haven't been to the new one. Is it that bad, or what gives? I always thought that it was sort of an elite pull when it was at columbus.

There are many reasons; some pullers don’t like our club for one reason or another, some don’t like me, but I’m the same SB that I was back when we had big numbers of antiques, some don’t like it that we are pulling the bigger tractors at any pull, mostly because of the larger purse that the big tractors get which comes from sponsors or promoters not from COATPA. Antique pullers say it’s not about the money but it is with some of them. Years ago the Dekalb Pull was the only winter pull east of the Mississippi, now antiques can pull every mouth of the winter, there was a pull some ware in the East this past winter, we use to get a lot of tractors from NY. I think we do need to take a look at our tire size in Div 3. There were 3 antique sled operators at Eaton and they all tell us that the antique numbers are getting smaller every year in our area at most pulls. We welcome suggestions that might help us to do better, but I’m sure I have mad some people mad, so if you are going to put the bad mouth on me have the curtsey to use your real name as I am. We think the 2006 Dekalb Pull was a big success, Sat night was a sell out. Thank you Joe Cronkleton 937-355-5251 call me if you want.

Well Joe I don't know you and probably will not be pulling back there with you but from your attitude I probably wouldn't want to. Doesn't seem to be the way to get people to come to your pulls. Jim Johnson

Seems like the pull came together too late to get good advertising out there. Other than that the building, grounds, and crew were top notch. I hope the pull can be there again. I could not stay for Sat nite as I wanted, but I also heard it was a full house. If you were there and had a good time tell your puller buddies and be there next year.

Joe,

I'm not trying to stir you up - as I said I haven't been there in a few years, and was curious about why the numbers have dropped in the classes so much. I always thought that it was a very well run pull at Columbus, and that it was an "elite" pull. Since the last time I've been there we've had 2 children and a new dairy barn, as well a new job off-farm that requires a lot more time than my old one - so time has been very limited for getting away. I'd love to get back out there for the pull again - just seems that time is not available like it once was. I appologize if I came off as trying to bad mouth the pull - that was not my intention. I'm just curious as to what has caused the decline in numbers. Glad to hear that you had a good turnout of other tractors and that the stands were full - I was looking mostly at the antique classes where we pulled when we used to go out.

Has COATPA done away with Div 8 or is it now the 10200 Hot Farm? If so what are the rules?

COATPA has done away with Div 8. The 10,200 Hot farm is not one of our classes, we added it to our show at Eaton, a very good class but they need to all get on the same page with there rules.
