I had my head at the machine shop for a valve job, and resurface, he said there are 5 little cracks in it. I have heard these old IH heads are always cracked, but he said theres a good chance it will leak, now he builds stock car engines he said he really doesnt have a lot of experence with old engines. Do i send it out to someone different? I dont want to put this head on and have it leak. Help
Ben

K&W block sealer works awsume. make sure to follow the directions. Had a cracked/leaking water head on a pulling M that had too much work into to just start over. K&W fixed it

MOST MACHINE SHOPS ARE OVER CRITICAL ON THESE FINE LINE CRACKS ! aS THE VERY LAST POST, HAVE IT PRESSURE CHECKED, IF IT WILL HOLD AIR FOR 24 HOURS, SHOULD BE NO PROBLEM HOLDING WATER !

ARE THE CRACKES BETWEEN VALVE SEATS?

Crack in the combustion chamber that goes just to the edge of the seat, then a crack by a coolant passage on the mating surface, accually 2 combustion chamber are like that and 2 water passages
