THE 14.9 OVER THE 15.5, THROW AWAY THE 15" RIM ON THE 15.5'S IF YOU HAVE TO PULLTHAT TIRE !

STAY WITH THE MANUFACTURES RIM WIDTH , PERIOD !

IF YOU COULD FIND A PAIR OF CO-OP 30 DEGREE BAR 14.9-38'S, THAT WOULD BE THE ULTIMATE BET !
I/M VERY MUCH SOLD ON THE 30 DEGREE BAR 0N ALL TRACK CONDITION'S !

Apples to apples, 14.9's will usually out do 15.5's every time. Much larger footprint. 45 degree tires most people say will do good only on a loose or dirt/sand track. I use 45 degree all the time. HOWEVER, 23 degree tires are the most popular and seem to hook well. My 2 cents.

14.9-38's give you a bit larger "contact patch" to the ground. 15.5's with their short sidewall give you much less of the dozer affect -fever bars on the ground. Tractors with 15.5's usually don't do so well in say dead weight pulls as do those with 14.9's or better yet 16.9's. You'd need 70-80 hp for 16.9's.

Super M, the Goodyear tires are actually about 45 degrees as well. The "squiggly" bars are somewhat deceiving. If those were the only choices you had I would probably pick the Firestones due to their better carcass quality. A true 23 degree Firestone would be much better, or even a 30 degree BFG. My choice of the two you mentioned would be "none of the above". My humble opinion. Mike
