I found an 1/8 overbore kit for my WD and I just wondered if anyones had a problem with over heating or cracking. Also does anyone know if they make a perfomance cam for one? I'm building the old girl up, I just purchased a WD45 crank. I just want a little extra a*% behind her.

If you run the WD pistons with a 45 crank your compression is going to be too high.... you probably want to go with d-17 4 1/8 or 175 4 inch pistons. The 175 pistons are higher compression but it is about the same as the 4 1/8 bore with lower compression. Either way you should gain about 6 horse power from the pistons. I don't know exactly what the extra 1/2 inch of stroke from the 45 crank will gain you but that is probably going to help more. They are reliable with the 4 1/8 kit in them. The blocks crack either way :)

I can tell you that 7.2 to 1 Compression is plenty in a WD-45 that will work in the field... Even with 7.2 you can't pull it down very far or it will rattle...

It isn't the Big Bore, it is just the result of so many times AC bored, and stroked the block...!!! The webs at the bottom of the block between the 1-2, and 3-4 cylinders are extremely narrow... Cracks are to be expected there, and the block can be "Pinned", or even resistance-welded and pinned... be sure to check...if you don't have a crack....it is unusual...

About 1/3 of the engines that I've had apart with 1/8 overbore have had at least one cracked cylinder. Get sleeve and piston set for WD-45 at AGCO dealer. They have good competetive prices and the 45 kit now comes with D-17 pistons instead of the old 45 ones. It is compression that really makes the power not a small increment of 1/8" bore anyway.

Go with Agco piston for a gas model 175. This
will give you 8.2 to 1 comp ratio. WD-45 pistons
are 6.5 tp 1.

it will work but wd pistons on a 45 crank is a lot of comp. use a camshaft out of a 175 gas. also try gov. weights out of a gleaner e combine.hammer down!!
