I have a Farmall "M" with a 8574 head, new set of Firecraters & 450G cam. I would like to mill the head .100. Will milling it cause detonation problems or require me to use slower burning fuel? Thanks!

Don't know for sure about the 8574 head but I took.180 off a 8060 headand have had no detonation probs even on regular.Thats with M&W 4.125 #76 pistons.Put race gas in it and bump the timing up to about 10 and it runs nice there too!

You are pushing it,do you have to dyno tractors where you pull?If it gets hot overheated much, the cracks will come!

you could gain a couple more hp if you get a 450 gas head and you would have no problem burning pump gas. these haeds breathe a lot better and have a 30 cc smaller combustion chamber. good luck with your m, randy

I am doing the same exact thing - People have told me that there will not be a problem. I was to understand that the 450 LP will cause detonation problems, but not the M Gas w/ light shaving.
