How Light a class can I get this tractor into? Shipping weight is 7581 ibs. in my book for diesel. Also can you use hub adp. to go to 9 bolt wheels? , and ifso are they the same as farmalls? As this would help get the tractor into 7000ibs. class. And any other ideas would be helpful. Thanks Larry..... .. Also does anyone known what yr. series 111 came out ,cause I herd the tractors are better, and how much are they going for/ Thanks.again Larry..... .

I saw an XT run in a 7000 lb class in NW Iowa 20 years ago. They had a hard time getting down to where they wanted -- took the steel plates up on the operators platform and has a thin sheet of plywood instead.

I think the Series III came out around 1974 or so. My XT was a 1967 and it had the lighter 3-pinion rear end and yes, it did go out with about 2300 hours of use. The Series IIIs had stronger drive train, especially in the planetary reduction that always was the weak point of the XTs.

Good luck

Ed

Sorry Ed, you're thinkin Deere! Early 190's had a 2 pinion, later had a 4 pinion, never used a 3, they also didn't use any planetary reduction in the drive train, just usual bull gear settup.

there's an annual "farmer's picnic" (that's become a rather big event) with pulls all day. More than one of the guys have bored out Minney U's and UB's. The one UB I'm familiar with makes 110 hp. It's fun seeing it pulling in the same class, neck and neck with a 190XT that also shows up there.
