I've been reading some of the posts below about the BEST PULLING TRUCKS and notice that those who like Dodge like Dodges, those who like Ford like Fords, and those who like Chevy or GMC like the GM trucks. It"s hard to get an honest opinion about trucks just like it is about tractors. The interesting thing to me is that some people just love to point out that Dodge doesn"t even make their engine - it"s made by Cummins; Ford doesn"t even make their engine - it"s made by International Navistar; Chevys and GMCs have an Isuzu diesel in them!!!!! You know what? They are all right. NONE OF THEM MAKE THEIR OWN ENGINE. If I owned the best John Deere tractor ever built it still wouldn't be as good as the worst Case I've owned because I LIKE CASE. As a former salesman I'll tell you this. By what YOU like. You'll be more satisfied with it.

I settled one of these Cummins, Powerstroke, Duramax arguments in the coffee shop the other day, when I invoked my oppinion. "The best kind of pickup is a company pickup!!"

Well on the GM that is an IN HOUSE diesel... GM owns Isuzu.. so technically that is their own diesel...

Give me a break! GM has never owned more than 49% of Isuzu. They bought 34% of Isuzu in 1971 and held that until 1998 when they purchased another 15% making it 49%. Then in 2002 they sold 37% of that share bringing them to only 12% ownership. They sold that on down to 7.9% share in 2005 and just recently sold out of Isuzu completely. I guess if you own an early Duramax you can call it a 49% Chevy or GMC with later models being 12%, 7.9%, and now they are totally 0% GM. IN HOUSE? Come on! They are Isuzus!!!!!

I don't have all the information, but the point is a Duramax is an Isuzu, a Powerstroke is an International Navistar, and Dodge is not trying to camouflage its Cummins as anything because they are proud it's a Cummins. I wouldn't mind having any of the three but I'd probably be better satisfied with a Chevy or GMC because that my preference. This is a short list of the info that I do have. That is where you are wrong,I recently borrowed an 01 duramax from a friend, mine is a 99 dodge ctd 5spd.Am I going to trade off my dodge for one? Not in the near future but that was one smooth and powerful ride. Some people CAN see past the brand and look at the trucks objectively.

Didn't say it was impossible to get an honest opinion, just hard to. Aren't you doing what I typed in my post - buying what YOU like? Sounds like YOU made up YOUR own mind based on the facts YOU know - not someone else's opinion. That's all I was saying.

That is not what you said, what you said was the best john deere is not as good as any case because you like case, therefore YOU cannot look at tractors/trucks objectively you look at the brand and assume it must be good. That is all I am saying.

You sure are reading a lot into what I said. I do not assume anything is good because of the brand name. On the other hand I did not say anything was inferior because of the brand name. I simply made a statement based on experience. One of the best tracors I ever owned was a John Deere. I never was really satisfied with it because green paint just don't do it for me. Go back and read what I said again. I did not mention any brand as being best or worst except when connecting it to satisfaction of the owner. I've seen many people get excellent service out of automobiles and ag equipment, but they never are truly satisfied with they consider "off brand." Hope this clears up what I said.
