I am going to be using 15.5 tires and would like to know if there is any advantage to using a 16 inch rim over a 14? any guess on how much more do they weigh?

I'm running 14.9 - 38 on a 16" rim and she bites very hard. I've just never been a fan of 15.5 because of the side wall hidth. In my opinion a 14.9 is better, but either way the wider the rim the flatter the footprint!

Might work good on soft tracks but on a good biting clay track I have never seen them do any good.Seems like the tire mfgr knew what they were doing with thier recommended rim widths.JMO I"m sure others will have differing opinons.

I have 16 inch rims and run 15.5 x 38s on them. I think the advantage to this is the tire is flatter across the lug area thus putting more lug on the ground. I was first turned onto this when my brother and dad put a set on 18.4 x 38s on 20 inch rims and we had been running them on 16 inch. It made a world of difference in the bite of the tire and I was impressed enough to put a set of 15.5s on the 16s and they have worked fine for me.
