I have a wd 45, and i also know of a person who is brewing ethanol with his own still(it is registered and legit, not just a barrel in the woods hehe). Would like to run my tractor on it for fun. I know there is alot of talk about it every once in a while, what way do i go about it makin it run? Thank you very much.

Double the jet size on alcohol verses gasoline will be a very close start. You should also raise the compression if possible. Alochol loves compression.

I have thought about trying e-85, haven't yet. As for pricing, why is it that e-85 prices follow petroleum prices when the basic materials are not related except in cost of producing and transporting it? E-85 should be cheaper as an enticement and due to the fact that fuel economy is less. Don't kid yourself, when alcohol gets it's share of the market the people who controll it will become just as greedy, rotten and corrupt as big oil! And don't tell me about farmer owned cooperatives, we saw what happened with the grain and meat industries!

15% gasoline will make it start easier.. You will have to open the Idle and power screw quite a bit..

More like 50/50 if its real good stuff! Would "equal" about 120 octane with 93 pump gas mixed in. Its not really that high octane rating,, actually around 105-108 in that area,,, but can run in place of 120 octane race fuel. It takes a good ignition, electronic conversion is a must, also more compression, the better it runs. What upsets me,, is seeing E85 within 3 cents of the pump gas,,, A gallon of corn juice worth 2.85 a gallon,,, how much corn does it take to make a gallon of ethanol? Would there be a special fuel permit available for farmers to make their own fuel,, instead of it being considered a beverage?

Well, according to the person i have been dealing with, it takes approx 1000 lbs of corn to make 100 gallons of fuel. Not sure where you are from, but NY will allow you to do it, as long as you are registered with the ATF. Says it costs him about 1.50 a gal to make it.
