I was just wondering about the cast number. Some say that the 6943 block is the better block because it weighs more, has more cast iron in it. It was also used in the SM, IDB.

NO. You can however get a 4" over bore kit for your M. If you want the 4 1/8" pistons you have to machine the cylinders in your block. If you are removing the crank you have to pull the engine out of the tractor anyway, so you might want to think about putting the 4 1/8" kit in. I'm having my block machined to take the 4 1/8" piston. What is the cast number of your Ms engine? is it a 6722 or a 6943?
