Has anyone ever had any luck pulling with a 37 unstyled B. What all can you do to this motor? I looked up engine parts on this web site and they don"t even offer kits for this year model. I would like to buy one but wondered if it"s worth the cost. Is it possable to put a bigger engine like out of an A into this tractor? Is there a site that would have info on the early B"s? Thanks, Chuck

Sounds like this will be your first time pulling. If it is, you would be wise to clean it up,tune it up,weight it up and pull it the way it is for the first year to learn the tractor and the tracks and techniques. You need to be "one" with your tractor before you worry about winning or modifying the tractor.Remember, their is no money in this and it won't be much fun either if you put 3 or 4000 into your tractor and get beat by a $2500.00 "B" with experience. You're pulling the right color so you have the battle half won already!!!

My son and I have and pull a pair of unstyled B John Deere's for several years. They can be altered to pull and can be allot of fun. I have done several others for other people as well. Parts are getting hard to find and expensive when you do find them. If you have the TEM (Time Effort and Money) it can be done. To be competitive in today's world with one of these, plan on doubling the cubic inch. A set of high compression pistons and somebody's super duper reground camshaft won't do it! They like any other pulling tractor will have there limitations, but in the right class setup correctly they will surprise you and allot of others as well. That's really what's the most fun part about pulling one of these. We pull ours mostly in 35, 4 and 4500# classes with a 3.5 or 4.0 MPH speed limit. We do not win all the pulls but do well enough that they are respected. I have been buying up parts the last couple of years to build one more of them for ourselves before we quit the pulling game. Will see how it compares to my other ones!! DW
