Getting my feet wet...

Hi,

I've been to a lot of antique tractor pulls, and I can't hold it back anymore. I've seen some tractors for sale here and there, but never investigated. Well, I want to now. I'd like to buy my first tractor to restore for showing and pulling.

Engines and such don't bother me, what I'm more concerned with is buying the right tractor. What should I be looking for in a first time test it out see what happens easiest to find kind of tractor? I'm just looking to relax and have some fun, not spend 9 years looking for that one obscure expensive part that no one has.

Any ideas?

Depending on what size you want, I would just suggest getting something that has parts widely available. Farmall M is one of the most common and that is why I decided on one when I bought a couple months ago. I looked for an oliver, but could not come up with one in my budget. I got the M for $140 complete, running great, and with set of extra pulling tires and 1000lb in wieght.

Good Evening- My cousin pulled for years-- when I got interested I wanted the big green- JD. Decided I wanted an unstyled D. One day I had money and my cousin wanted to sell me his 77 Oliver. He had been pulling it a couple of years. It run good and had a new paint job. The price was right and I was ready to buy. I bought the 77 and have really been pleased. It runs good, looks goodand I have had fun.
It doesn"t matter what it is as long as it pleases you.
