What do you A guys run for cams and who made them , I hear about offset rockers, are these just on the intake or both. Who is the most reasonable for cams for a stroker motor. Also what do you think of LP distributors for ignition? Thanks in advance.

Mike..i have my cams ground to my own specs..exhaust is okay..intake closing okay..add some to intake opening and ground more lift then you don't need offset rockers..stock cam is .300 go to .380 and you will get .570 lift minus the lash..lynn

I'll give you my opinion on each subject Offset rockers: used on intake and exhaust, most I have seen were fabricated crudly, and rocker mounting holes had to be moved, until Murphy's Motor Service cam out with their offset roller rockers. Holes do not need to be moved, and the product is pricy but very good quality.
Lp distributor: In my opinion no power is to be gained with the setup, plus you will pay more than you will for a good setup with a standard distributor.
Cams: not worth the effort in my opinion unless you have a big cube motor Example: 6 1/8" X 9". The rockers available from Murphy Motor will also help you somewhat as a ground cam would. Any well known cam shop with specifics from you about what you want out of your tractor could do the job. A Late A OR 60 cam is a good cam to use wihtout modification. Just some opinions with trial and error on the dyno.

thanks for the input, I have a 9x6.125 A, sounds like you might too, what can it make on a dyno, I never have had the right chance to put mine on one. What do you think about carb mods?

I usually run a stock big nut carb. Robert's carb does modification, but I can't peersonally see paying as much as he wants for a mod. That money could be used for something more vital. I have played around with modifying my own carbs without any real significant gain. A friend of mine had a 6.125 X 9.25 A and Keith Merfeld modified a DLTX 71 (late A) to power it fine. So according to him and others a big nut is not neccessary. It's aaccording to who you ask. I don't really care to gut out big nut G carbs. That setup has always worked for me. Dyno around 80 horse.
