HI CHAD OR SOMEONE ELSE. I have this H I built last year for stock pulling, I just checked the compression and I have 140# in all cyl dry and 150# wet. But I dont have much power? It has 3 and 7/16 high domes, Head milled about 60 to 75 thousands,169 cam shaft 300 manifold and SM carb, I rebuilt the Govener my self just to make everything tight. OK as you all can probly tell I am running a high output H4 mag on her. 35 degree trip and timed at TDC, Any Ideas? And no I dont have a dist for her lol P.S. Carb adjusted just to take the black smoke away JON

How many hours are on it, since you rebuilt the engine? With all the work you have done, you probabaly looking at a 5-7 hp max increase over what stock would be. What size venturi are you running? There is a number at the bottom of the venturi, (example,, #25) A tractor lke that would love a 23 for best low end power, maybe a #25 to get the 540HP up, but you may lose a little low end power from the 25,,,, New engines, take anywhere from 5-15 hours of working time to fully break in,,, once the break in is good, the HP will increase slightly, and you will have a better chance to dial it in for power. Double check all the bolt torques on the head, manifold, carb etc etc, good fuel is a must, I recommend E85,,,,if you can get it. is the intake, where the carb bolts on, frosting up, or condensating at all? Thats good,,, that means you have a good seal on the manifold and carb flange,, You are pulling alot of air thru, and when it mixes with the fuel, it cools it considerably as it passes thru the carb. A good grade pump gas will sweat, or frost the manifold,, E85 will freeze it,,, When tuning,, you have to make sure that frost is gone,,, sure it can sweat, but not frost,, the reason is, on the track, it wont stay frosted up as engine temp rises from a cold start. Cold is always good,,, hot air, dont make power,,, a fuel that is colder, like E85 can help maintain the colder temp in the intake and hold the power longer until the manifold heats up,, or you could wrap insulation around the carb flange and take advantage of the cooling effect. Id say you need to put some time on the engine, go out for a long drive, put a bush hog on the back and mow for a day or two, just any kind of work to put a load on the engine for a while. It will wake up in a few more hours,, just keep an eye on the heat guage, and the spark plug color under a load,, if it runs hot, under a load, check the plugs for color, if they are white, or very light in color, richen the main jet and see if the temp goes down, if not better check the water,,, LOL! Put some time on her! At least a good 5 -10 working hours,, listen to it,, watch the plugs for color,, Chad

I ain't runnin a stroker M, Tom! I beat ya on the Green M in 5500-6500, thats only the second time Ive ever took it to a pull since Ive owned it! I did not bring the stroker SM to Akron, It was ready to go, but I dont own that machine, I did not ask him to bring it to the pull, so I left it sit. O got to hand it to you Tom, your off to a good start this year,, Trust me,, I'll catch you later,, HAHAHAHA!
