I have a set of 18.4 x 38 BF Goodrich Power Grips, and I'm thinking about having them cut for pulling tires. Do these make good cuts or not? Anyone having success with them?

those short bars should work good on a tacky track if you lay them back a little , I am going to try some BF 18.4-34's on my CC

Lamont, these make very good pulling tires. I have a set on my tractor right now and they work very well. They tend to be somewhat lighter than a Firestone of the same size and ply rating. They tend to work better the faster you turn them and don't really work as well under approximately 3 mph. But over 3 mph they work very well. I have cut several sets for folks and they like them very well. In some localities they are the tire of choice. In other areas other tires are preferred. Hope this helps. Mike

Thanks for your help. How much tread is necessary to get a good cut on a tire? Do these look good enough for a 5/8 to 3/4 inch leading edge? Your name is familiar. Where are you located?

It's a little harder to make a judgement on a tire from just a picture but it appears that 5/8" would be doable with just a small amount of "blending" necessary in the center of the tread. These tires frequently come in to me worn like this and I try to get as much as I can within the limits of the tire and sometimes have to taper the bar shorter in the very center. I am located in the extreme northeast corner of Missouri. Mike

I sometimes have what you are looking for but right now I don't have any. I usually have several sets of tires around to sell but as you know those sizes are getting hard to find. And yes, there are tractors all over the lot..:) Mike
