Is a heisler head basicly the same thing as a flat head with larger valves? if so can a flat head be modified to work just as well as a heisler head? About how much would it cost? Thanks

You will not be able to open the flat head up to the heisler head size with out getting in to the water jacket.

We are going to build a JD "B". Is there enough room on a flat head to put "A" valves in?

Frist thing is you do not want to put in a big intake valves that are bigger than the intake valve pockets.Frist you have to open up the intakeports as far as you can. Then you will have an idea on about the size valve you will need.I,m not sure on how big the head can be open up. You will need to ask some of the guys that build B pullers or the guys that are there machinist. You will need a machinist to open up the valve pockets and the intakeport. You might be able to use the B valves if the pockets can not be open up much.Alot of guys like to put in big intake valves in the head thinking that this helps but all it does is make the air and fuel come in slower. With the pockets and intakeport big and a valve that will seat at a 45 grind the air and fuel will get in better.
