Just got back from the pull and once again it was JD green taking the win. Hats off to Greg and George on the 720 LP, The farmalls had problems in the final round, the super mta had a major left axle type failure, couldnt really see for all the weights, but alot of grease on the track, the 450 sounded like it broke both rear hubs, a very nice effort was put on by all participants and no one was hurt. That D-17 AC was probably the most impressive for its size and set up.

i would just like to inform everyone on what broke on the two farmalls, first on Don's super M-TA looking from the back the left side axel housing broke rite at the bolts where it goes into the tractor, second on Bill's 450 looking from the back just the right side hub broke.

Portersville news.....accident on I79 in reply to JD hauler, 08-05-2006 21:42:57
Has anybody heard anything about the accident on 79 Saturday night just south of Portersville? We were on our way home just before 11:00 and witnessed an accident on the northbound side. I was driving and with all the cars slowing and stopping in front of me I had my hands full and didn't see it happen, but my passengers saw it all.

What appeared to be a small (F-350)U-Haul truck must have fallen asleep and didn't make the slight curve in the road. He bounced off the left guardrail and and skidded hard to the right and went down over the embankment. My brother said it looked like he was up on his left side tires only at one point. By the time I avoided all the cars in front of us, it was over and I didn't see a thing.

I just wondered if anybody had heard how the driver made out. It was a busy day on I-79. We saw the fire from the tractor trailer/car accident earlier in the day on our way up. Thank God we had a safe trip.

I am not sure as to place, but as my notes were, At the end of 14,200 on the boat He was still in. 12 tractors.
At the end of 15,400 on the boat He was still in. 9 tractors.
At the end of 17,800 on the boat I think He was still in. There was still 7 tractors going in to the 20,200 on the boat and _____ I think He was in there. So he could have been 6th. or 7th. Going into final round of 22,600 on the boat was 4 tractors. 2 RED and 2 GREEN. You know the rest from here from post J.D.Y. before

What is the chances that there is some pictures that could be posted. I enjoy seeing the tractors all loaded up and even watching them pull. We don't have that type of pulling in Northeast Wisconsin

I have quite a few photos of the tractors and will post them to Fotki tomorrow. I will post a link here when I get it done.

I also have video of the 5 or 6 heaviest rounds. I could probably burn a DVD for interested parties.

Congratulations to Brian/PA for great job on the track again this year! I would be honored to receive the evil handshake from you Brian. You appear very dignified out there doing your job.

thank you. i just got home from there, i seen they got the broken tractors out last nite(early this morning actually) when i left around 2 am the guys were workin hard to get them fixed and loaded.
lets not forget to give all of the guys and the few girls that pulled a hand as well, without them we wouldnt have the entertainment that we've had for the last several years.
also may want to include in that list were the sled master, Ken, and Ray the announcer.
i look forward to next year already, but my biggest complaint since i've been flagging is i dont get the pictures that i used to get. but i got the best seat in the house so it kinda works out.

A friend of mine had the same thing happen to his 560 last year. The rear axle housing is broken and it most likely wiped out the bull gear on that side along with all the bearings. The 560 was just over $750 to fix including the 16 gallons of tranny oil that was left on the track. Ironically, the housing that he got as a replacement was one from a SMTA. IHC didn't make them any stouter as they raised the HP. We call the 560s a super SMTA. More hp but mostly the same components.

Another guy that I pull with has broken at least 2 hubs on a 400 pulling much less than 20,000 lbs. With a transfer sled and the tractor at 10,000 he can snap a hub without breaking a sweat! He hasn't broken a hub since he started keeping it below 8500 lbs.

Glad to hear that they got the broken tractors cleaned up safely. Drop me an email and I will make sure that you get a copy of the DVD video that I shot of most everything above 10,000 lbs. As I stated before, I will be posting a link soon to the photos that I took. The pictures are mostly just of the tractors and I did video on the pulls.

If all goes well over the next year, we won't just be spectators next year! Me, my brother and our friend that was with us last night plan to have a contender next year. I think we can hang with Greg but if Albert comes back we would be in trouble! It's a long way to travel (290 miles one way) but I think it would be worth it. If we were lucky enough to win do you think the locals would let us leave town without getting too skinned up?

What do you guys do bury the sled before the pull starts? I don't think he's going to make 21 feet!

Anybody that's interested in a DVD send me an email and I should be able to get you a copy for the cost of postage and the DVD. I only shot the actual pulling and not all the hooking up and driving away but it's still about 45 minutes of video including the Farmall carnage(both of them) and the winning pull by Greg.
