I was just curious how far you can bore out a JD 70 block before it's not safe. I plan on pulling this tractor. I might try to keep it in the antique pulls so I have to stay with a stock block. I have a shop in line to stroke it but I want to maximize my cubes right away. I know you can sleeve it. Just wondering the biggest people have tried and it worked.

Is it possible to bore my stock block out and sleeve it to fit at least a 6 1/2" to 7" piston. I also am looking for someone to stroke my crank2 extra inches.

Keith Merfeld (phone: 563-582-8710) did my crank, rods and notched my cam. He added 2.75" to the stroke. I don't know about boring the block, Keith can give you some advice on that also. I had UAP in Utica bore my block. I'm not sure that they can give you much advice on what to do with the block, but once you know what needs to be done I suspect they could do the work.

I succesfully bored one to 6.123" and used an aircraft piston. The bore extensions looked a might thinner when the block came back. That was about 5 years ago and not a lick of trouble. Compression is around 8.5:1. I'd be happy to talk more if you have questions.
