I have the same turbo on my M but i cannot make any boost at stock RPM. I currently am using the stock manifold and blowing thru the original carb. I just throw the turbo on for s(*$ and giggles to show off but i am not getting any real HP. Sounds bad a&* though!!!

My engine makes boost very easily but not at factory RPM. The factory manifold is a terrible design, but I would think it would still make boost.

I test my tractor in road gear and can make boost starting around 16-1800 RPM. However, the only real way to test it is hooked to the sled since it hits the rev limiter in about 1 second in road gear...kindof fun accelerating like a car on a 50 year old tractor:).

I am using a small Garrett T3, 50 trim compressor and .48 A/R turbine. It works very well with the small cubes and I have room to grow to a larger T3/T4 combo as time goes on. I have had thoughts of the 301 and a similiar setup to mine. It would have alot of power potential and is a little better engine design from what I have read. I will run the little 4 till I get bored or it craters. I run 2100RPM right now and can not get the power to the ground. I would like to run 3-4k but I have to get a flywheel and girdle on the ole girl first.

I thought I put a pic up a while back, but I could not find it.

Anyhow, I built everything from scratch. I have tinkered with turbo stuff so I decided to give it a try on the M. It worked very nicely after getting alot of bugs worked out. Last pull I went to I could not get a bite could barely load the engine in 4th. I think on a good track it will work well.

FYI: If you want to get technical, a turbo is a type of supercharger. Have a good one.

Can you post a pic of how you rigged up the tilt hood. JDGnut's hood is awesome, and I have had similar thoughts in my head.

I used the 1/2 inch tube to built a frame that holds together the grille and hood. I also did some body work and alignment to get the grille/hood parting line as perfect as I could. Then I tacked it in place before building the frame. The frame is welded directly to the hood/grille. The hinge is some various pipe I had laying around.

My original plan was to have it completely lift off with no pins so I keyed the hinge pin that you see attaching to the frame. I found that the off center hinge made the hood want to rotate sideways when lifted and the lift off design made it so the assist cylinder actually pushed it right out of the frame.....so I drilled it and put a bolt through as a pin to hold it steady.

The picture is better if you can see it full size. For some reason when I post here the pictures shrink??

Bah.. Bahh Bahh... GPuller.. are you speaking???? haha... I really wanted my G to have a front tilt hood.. but it was easier to make it tilt from the back... All I help him do was open the G hood once.. Next thing I know he's posting pics of his M... Paint is over rated... (Too bad I'll have to sandblast the hood now... ) I'm going to be in MN and IA about the 16-18th (I think those are the dates..) I'm headed to the Clay County Fair to watch the Outlaws pull on Sunday.... JDGnut

Well, don't forget the info on the steering box....

That was a big help. It is going to work great with the porshe rack and pinion. The old porshes had the rack straight in the middle of the rack so it works great on the tractor.
