Its a 1950. I already have the 1550 head so will the 550 value help that head?

Depending on the age of your 77, the 1550 rocker shaft assemly may be the improved one. The 77 had two different designs early and late. When they went to the Super 77 the length of the push rods and the length of the rocker arm supports changes. Have you though of putting 550 valves in your 77? They are larger than 1550 and it can be done. Cut the bowl out for better flow but take the 1550 manifold and carb. Questions?J.

I already have the 1550 head so will the 550 valves help in the 1550 head. What size is a 550 valve? I am thinking of putting bigger valves in, maybe neckeddown sbc valves. thanks

No. I think they are the same. I used to have a Super 77 diesel and it had a 1555 head on it, so a 1550 should be a bolt-on.
