Over the weekend, we all went to 3 pulls in 3 days. Our first stop was in Roann, Indiana at the Roann Covered Bride Festival. Now for a pulling junkie like myself,, this town rocks the air with the sounds of Antique power all day, and portions of the night. Roann hosts 2 pulls, yep, 2 different styles of pulling events in one small town. Parking was limited where ever you went, especially at the dirt track, where the Antique Tuggers hosted a transfer pull. Lots of new clay, and it looked like it was a good track to pull on. What really caught my eye was the sled they was using. Thats a nice sled!! And if anyone gets a chance to go to a Tuggers pull, Get up and go! They put on a great show! USAP rules seems to suit these guys just right!! Up town, on the hill was the Street pull where so many tractors showed up, I cannot count! Its a anything goes kinda pull, Deadweight pullers came from all over to Roann, and they got what they came for!! A long, entertainment attraction that lasted till about 2:30 am. I was not able to pull at Roann at either event, I was busy hauling tractors, spent most of Saturday Afternoon in the truck, back and forth, back and forth, Some of you know what thats like! I was getting ready to go 25 miles north of Roann, to Mentone, Indiana held yesterday. Hosted by Jim Keirn excavating, Held by NIATPA, once the pull back tractor showed up, we started pulling heavy to light rotation, starting with the 7000 modified. We took 4 tractors, The green 50 Farmall M, Dad's Super M, Judy's Super H, and My 460H modified. The classic NIATPA crew was there,, Dawson, DCtom, Angleiron, Westville Mafia,,, the list can go on! I think the 5501-6500 class was the spotlight class of the day,, (Wouldnt you say fellas?) We all had trouble in that class! The 500# incrememnt routine bit me in the tail,,, I was thinking the class was 6000-6500#, and had the M way to heavy to pull a percent in the money, at 6100, had a great pull!! Took the sled for a long ride to the other end of the track,, no one else got close,, then I went up to look at the results sheet in the trailor, noticed that the sheet was 5500-6500, not 6000-6500, and was now sitting in OHHH,,, bout 10th place. That was my trouble,, DCtom,,, well,,,,, HAHAHA!! There should have been a "Deere" crossing sign in the flagmans hand,, (I think it was Dawson the flagman) Cause a John Deere jumped out in front of him,,, amazed by the Flambou paint scheme, I think,,, and well,,, Tom hit a Deere in mid pull! The Deere just sat there,, ( like the deer in the headlights look right before the BAM!) HAHAHAHAHA!! Tom, I stopped off at a truck stop,,, got you some of those Deer whistles they put on the cars and trucks,,, Still looking in the scrap pile for a chrome bumper for the DC,,, And now for the rest of the story,,, During toms pull, he got a hook, and man,, he was going out the end!! The grader tractor, (Which was a 3010 John Deere) was parked down at the end of the track waiting to grade, but was in a bad spot cause tom was taking the sled for a trip, and he was in the way!! I know the driver did not know what to do,, and he froze, and did not back up when tom was going thru. Tom gave the deere a love tap, and taught the grader driver to move the next time that happens!!! I do belive, tom had the winning pull, but due to the deere incident,,, the DC was taken out back and cooked before the deere was cooled out right. LMAO!!!!! So, Maybe tom will be hunting Deere the next time we see him,,, Wearing flambou red camoflage suspenders or something,,,, Maybe crosshairs on the front hood,,,, HAHAHAHA!!! Gotta watch those deere crossing signs!!! I think Dawson may be able to hook us up with a deere sign, or a sticker,,,, maybe even a crossing guard sign,, for when those pesky deeres come a running,, he can stop traffic to let them cross. Once the deere blood was cleared from the tracks, lol,, pulling resumed!! I pulled exhibition on the 460 in the 4500 mods,, I had 2 decent passes on it, I will say, its one fast tractor on the track. Would have had second if it mattered. My wife Judy got back on her Super H, where last season, at Mentone, she won the class on her very first hook ever!! She repeated her history and won the 0-4500 farm stock class! She watched all day long and knew what she was gonna do, and she got the job done!

I'm worn out today, after the dust settled, 3 events in 2 days, seen a tractor/deere accident,, LOL,,, I had a great time! Next pull is at Nappanee, Indiana,, I think its on Sunday?? Ill double check on the date, but its heavy to light rotation, and last year, the track was the best one of the year, so hopefully that stays the same for another day in the NIATPA! Tom,,,, Load heavy!! (Sorry, I could not resist! ) ChadS

Whoops, I meant Covered Bridge Festival, not bride,,, (if that what it really was,, might be a empty parking lot)
