What are some things that you guys do to port your intakes? I have an Oliver 88 manifold that needs larger runners and about the only way to do it is cut it apart. Has anyone tried this or something easier? Thanks.

It would be very hard to beat using a stock manifold set for that make and model. The manifold set I am talking about is the one already suggested earlier. Get a diesel intake and exhaust manifold set and do a little work to mount it. Take a look at it and you will find it is a lot better flowing than the gas manifold set.

Have fun,
A.P.

Didn't mean to cause any problem,I don't think there is a puller with a dedicated tractor out there that hasn't done something to their machine. My "G" Had to be overhauled when I got it,had to bore it .90 to get the cyl clean, mill the head clear down to the eyebrow on the intake to get it staight Is that still stock?? thanks

Actually, I will be pulling this in the open class but want to use stock parts for this year. I don't have the time right now to make an intake manifold that I know will flow. Just looking for good suggestions on improving the stock one. I'm sure it's been done before somehow and I didn't want to reinvent the wheel. Thanks for your concern.

88power you could try acid inside the runners, turning it alittle at a time. Becareful though. Good luck

www.extrudehone.com . Send the head & both manifolds and they will flow the max possible. Better than any hand porting as they only remove metal that impedes flow.Port volumes are maintained to keep fuel suspended in the airstream when rpms are lugged down. More torque too due to ram velocity.

Mr. Taylor---have you or anyone you know tried extrudehone? I'm wondering what the lead time and costs are?

Thanks everyone for their comments. I would like to keep a stock appearing manifold for now, so I think the diesel would be out. Thanks.

A few weeks in the slow season & more in the spring when everyone is lining up at the same time. Looks stock from the outside. Cost, well it's some of the cheapest HP you will find. They have a price list depending on how many cylinders, one or two manifolds etc.

The price list that extrudehone.com has on their website is severly misleading. The prices quoted on that website are for aluminum components. I recently called them for a quote on the intake side only of a 4 cylinder siamesed ported antique tractor manifold. I gave him detailed dimensions of the manifold including diameters, flow path lengths, etc. so that he would be able to provide a solid quote. Given all of that, I still got the standard "well, I would have to see it to tell you for sure." Then he asked me if it was cast iron, and I knew that it was over from there.

Through all of my efforts, I was only able to get out of him: "$300 to $400" for just the intake side only!!!! For that money, I can fabricate a "stock appearing" manifold from thin wall tubing, or possibly have a pattern made and cast my own, given the right quantity, and still come out money ahead in the long run. Either way for what they have to do, I don't feel that it is worth what they are charging for that service. Maybe I will just investigate the contents of their abrasive flow paste and set up my own system...?

Take it for what it is worth, but this has been my experience with Extrude Hone.

If you are not particular about what intake you are using (rules), look for a deisel intake. turn it upside down and make it bolt up. Will make a very big differance if you find a larger carb to feed it.
