OK...I am postiing here because you guys probably know better than anyone. Here is what I got.
1. 844 cu inch Allis Chlamers 25000 MKII turbo.
2. I rebuilt the motor every thing is tight
3. I rebuilt the injectors and they are set at correct pop psi.
4. I never heard this motor run before I got it.
5. It will start although it takes a shot of ether.
6. It white smokes at idle and doesn't want to idle very well until it gets hot. Once its hot it will idle nice but still smokes a little.
7. When I throttle it up it black smokes like a super stocker and under load it really pours the black smoke. I can feel it is down on power.
8. I have tried every timing on the pump I can try. Advancing it helps but is still pushing too much fuel.
Can this problem be changed by adjusting the max fuel setting or am I going to have to pull the pump and turn down each barrel?

without knowing all the details it sounds like over fueling you should get with a good pump shop and find out what you have. white smoke and ether can be normal things for a hi performance diesel. a pyro ,boost, and exhaust gauges are important for tuning. it can take some time to get it dialed in. you may have to check compression and cam timing if it dosnt respond god luck

Depends on what kind of pump you have as how to turn it down. White smoke usually means low timing , low cylinder pressure or we just don't put the fuel in the cylinder good enough to get a good burn , in other words it is uncomplet burn and that's why it goes away some when it gets hot.
