Pulling with a 9N

Hi All,

I was told to check with this forum, as the 9N crew suggested you may have more helpful insight. I am going to pull at my local fair with my 9N. The debate is in what I should be using to hookup to the sled, given the rules (plus best pulling strength).

There is one rule that says the drawbar can not be more than 18" (from where/what?) I am not clear. And not more than 20" from the ground (that I understand).

Anyways, I need to rig her for pulling and I need to know what I should or need to get, to ensure good pulls, plus a pulling system that will be accepted by the pulling people.

All info, feedback, and photos is greatly appreciated! Thanks

You can buy a piece of 3" angle, blow 2 holes in it and bolt it to your fender mounts. Run it back the minimum distance and run a piece of square tube between the two. Do not use your upper link, it will ruin the internal system. I pull with a 2N
and haven't got the front end up yet. Our hitch heights are the same. The only way you could possibly get high enough to worry is if you have the ultra low 1st gear, even then I don't think you could get into trouble with that tractor. I run in percentage pulls, stock class. I started with a 92.8% and took second place. Now I'm pulling 158%+ and coming in 4th. Sounds a little fishy huh. If you come up with any great ideas let me know.

The hooking point can't be any closer to the center of the rear axel than 18". You can be as far back as you want.Put a tape at the center of the rear housing & measure back 18". Don't go any closer. You will also need a flat clevis or a piece of steel to bolt on the drawbar that has at least a 3" round opening. You can also pull off the 3 point cross bar if it has side bars that will keep it from moving up or down. You can bolt the clevis to the cross bar.
