I'm new to the tractor pulling game. so i decided to pull a farmall460 it has 18.4x34 pressed steel wheels and a stock rebuil which just isn't enough. Before I can do anything eles I need to boe it out. Whats the farthest you can take the stock 221ci with 3 9/16 bore to. I would like to think I can drop in a set of 806 pistons with .040 on top of that. Is it Possible?

Got a 460 down to 4000lbs. once. Pulled the PTO, one gallon of fuel, removed fast hitch, no fenders, no weight bracets, and had a kid drive it across the scale! The antiquers were not impressed, as this 460 had a 706 motor and combine intake system and governor. All for a $10 throphy.....Sad isn"t it.

I just built a 460 utility with row crop side rais, light wide front end, regular fenders, front, rear, and side weight brackets, 18.4 x30 tires on pressed wheels and it weighs just over 3850#. You should be able to get the row crop in there.

Id like to see that! Isnt the ute, or utility rear end and bellhousing, shorter than a row crop, from bellhousing to the rear edge of the housing? Ive got a 450 down to 3625 but its a half n half tractor,, 460 from the engine plate forwards, and H from the bellhousing back,,, ChadS

Utility only looks like its shorter because the dash and steering wheel are moved forward and the hoodwork is shorter. Add the side rails and everything lines up the same as the rowcrop. I would post a picture if I could figure it out.

Should have faster gears in it if it had the smaller tires, and if you put on 38 inch tires,,, should be a pretty good set up! Did you go with 460 row crop sheet metal, or utility? Chad

No, I have utility sheet metal. It is actually pretty light for that size tire, I think that I am going to try a 15.5x38 tire next year.

That will speed it up quite a bit! Should make 1st n second gear real potent! Problem with my 460 is, the rear end is so light, it dont hook up. Heavier I go, the better it likes it. Comes on strong at 4500. Good weight to move where ever I need it. Im at 3625 empty, with me on it. Chad

I have a 460 with regular cast wheels and a Fast Hitch on it and it weighs 5050. The tires are 15.5's. How heavy is the FH? The cast wheels? This one with pressed steel wheels & the FH dropped off would easily be 4500, probably 4200.
