I"m running 225 lbs of compression on my 172 Ford and just lost the 3rd head gasket since the start of the season. Is there some type of sealer that would help hold the gasket?

Puller, Sleeves or no sleeves? What type of gasket are you running? Do you get any spark knock in the engine? Are your head a block surfaces within .001- .002 ? Did you "O" ring block or head ? These are all things we need to look at. Earl

No sleeves, stock gasket, no spark knock when running hot fuel, new short block and recent head work. No O rings.

Where did the gasket blow between # 2 & 3 cyl ?On the orginal engine with the sleeve the flange of the sleeve protrude above the block .002 - .004. this formed a positive seal on the gasket.Anytime you have a spark knock this creates a pressure that a regular gasket can't hold. Does the OE gasket hang into the bore? You will probably need to go to a copper gasket with the block or head "O" ring to solve your problem. I like the FLATOUT Gasket because they use a special sealer on the gasket. 877-837-9200 . Email if you need more help. Earl
