If I spent as much on a tractor as some of you guys, (and from what I've heard people quoting, $20,000.00 to $75,000.00 is what I'm talking about), I would get out there and show off what my machine would do and wouldn't give a rat's red rump if I got DQ'd everytime.

Don't we do this for fun? This is a hobby. I don't know anyone of us making a living pulling antique tractors. I had fun and will go back. If I ever go and don't have fun is when I'll quit going. I'm not just talking about Tunica either. I'm talking about all tractor pulls everywhere.

Is there a Boy Scout forum anywhere? If there is there's probably someone on there griping about all the cheating going on in the soapbox derby race.

Please give it a rest. The people you need to talk to were at the pull. Take care of it at the pull.

Every club has its fair share of griping. The best you can do try to give most tractors a spot to pull and try for the best. I've had my fair share of disagreements and rule bartering in our club, but there is not one member I would hesitate to count on. Quite a good (and a very large) group of friends I'd say. And beyond my club, I've met great folks in the NATPA too. Grumbling happens. I don't spend much on my MM tractors, but I also enjoy watching those who go all out. Welcome to motor sports folks!

I guess I dont feel so bad about my pulling club after reading some of the posts. I was ready to find another club to escape all the griping. I pulled with another club a few times was far less sucsessful yet had more fun because if there was griping I didnt hear it. On the other hand it can be humorous. We pull garden tractors but its all the same

You've got it figured out now. If you change clubs looking for one that doesn't have the griping, you'll change non-stop for the rest of your life.

Yeah. Most, if not all, of the ones griping were not even pullers at the event. They are sure not club members. Heck, I'm not a member of the club that sponsors the event. It's just pitiful to hear grown men acting this way instead of airing it out at the event. What's to gripe about over $100 or $200 if you're pulling with a $50,000.00 tractor? Turn it loose and put on a show. Give the people what they want to see. Show everyone you've got the "baddest of the bad" tractors. So what if you're DQ'd? Wasn't it just as much fun?

Lamont it's funny you should say that about not worrying about getting DQ'd. WE have a man up here who comes to all the pulls with a Allis WD with a Chevy 296 in it. He has all the safety items on it and pays the hook fees in all the classes he pulls in. He'll tell you right away that he has no intention of winning but he is sure gonna have fun! Usually blows the horn all the way down the track but the crowd loves it and he has a BLAST!

He probably has as much fun and anyone I have ever seen at a pull. He used to pull competively and I think he just decided it wasn't worth it.

That's enjoying what you have, what you're doing and being a sport. That reminds me of a time when I was in a class that had only 3 tractors in it that day. There was an old man there that loved to pull but his Massey 97 was turbocharged. Of course, the rules said "No Turbos." The rest of us in the class got together and decided we wanted to pull against him so we told him to get in the class anyway. It's all for fun. He beat me by about 2 feet and 3rd place was only 4 inches behind me and the last guy was pretty close too. That put one guy out who was legal by the rules, but no trophy for him. Only the top 3. That old man tried for 2 hours to give his 1st place trophy to me so we would pass down 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th so all 3 legal tractors would get one. Heck, we were all tickled to death that he didn't beat us by 30 feet, but we weren't about to take his trophy expecially since we talked him into getting in there with us. I'm just glad the speed limit kept him from really embarrassing us.

Truth told, most pullers are good sports. We sure don't need to let a few bad apples spoil the fun for the rest of us. I'm ready for Tunica again right now.
