I have read some of your posts, you seem to know about JD B's.
What are some things that I can do to a 39 B for pulling. No sure how far I want to go. But would like to know what can be donre first (most bang for the buck).

Thanks JDJACK

Other than late styled creeper gear B's, you need to get into the stroke of the engine in the older B's. Their ground speed needs some stroke to make it all happen (or custom gears).

Sorry , I have been away a couple days. My experience has been with late "B",s 190 cu. in. and loooow 1st gear. Bang for the buck? I have to agree with the other posts about stroking. I will add , though , that while you are stroking it would be a good time to set your compression ratio where you want it. High compression ( 9 or 10 to 1) is free HP at that point. Run it with 98 to 100 octane leaded race gas. Blend if you need to get that number. At that point you can also play with timing for a little more "free" power. The timing and compression will also give you INSTANT throttle response. (gov. working correctly) Hope you are aware that some rules will not allow any of this! You may limit where you can pull by what you do to it. I am no pullin expert by any means and I am sure you will get a lot more ideas from a lot of more experienced JD guys. Personally , I prefer PURE STOCK but that's just my preference. I like to keep a "B" a "B". There's not enough money in pullin' for me to spend all that money to try to make a "B" into an "A". Pull your "B" stock and if you want to step up , get a "60" to go with it. Good Luck.
