Hey cliff where do you take your farmall heads to get work done to them. I wanna get a little work done to my M head. I heard Irvin McClain does good work but is pretty expensive. I hear Simpsons do good work but I heard that from all JD guys haven't heard from any IH guys that have take stuff there. I guess McClain has a dyno so I could take the whole tractor down there and he could set it up for me. Simpson is boring my block and turning down my crank plus Simpson is pretty close for me. If theres someone else, I haven't heard about them Thanks Mike

Thanks guys I'll take all that into consideration. I thought by the end of last year the new tire classes seemed pretty decent. I mean I pulled my $600 H that was rusted fast the year before and brought home a couple ribbons with it. I guess it's a good thing I bought new tires for my M that used to have 15.5's on it. Not by choice though thats just what was on it when I got it. I don't think putting the tractors on a dyno would be the thing to do however it would be nice if we could find enough help to get the dyno out at some of the monthly pulls. Not to check for overpowerd tractors but just so some of the members could see what they got. Thanks again guys

The idea of the dyno for fun was discussed at one point in the past year. I'll bring it up and see if I can't talk someone into running it at the April FFA pull - think it would be neat thing for some of the kids to see and I'm sure guys wouldn't mind doing some dyno tuning early season if there was time and help to run the thing.

I think you're right - overall things weren't too bad by the end of the season with guys being where they belong. We just thought that some additional language would help solidify what the intentions of the class were 7 years ago when we became the 1st local club to seperate the cuts from the uncuts. The new language will help newcomers realize the initial intentions of the classes.

I think you'll find the way that the rules are presented has improved greatly too so that you can easily pull out what rules apply to your classes and what rules apply to other tractors.

I love the cut and uncut classes, the biggest reason is we farm with all our tractors clean the mud off of them once a month and come play. It's just not fair to pull against cut tires and theres no way were going to buy a set of cut tire to jocky around once a month. Ran into that problem last year at loyalsock. First we got there late so I missed the 4000lb class so I had to pull my off the farm H in the 500 and 6000lb classes. In there I pulled against Ulmer,Mclain and everyone else cut tires or not. Still had fun even though I don't like there sled.

it's an 8574 head so it's worth putting a little into it. I wouldn't mind shaving it a little, we're prolly just going to do the porting ourselves. I don't know how to but my stepbrother drag races street cars and says it's pretty easy. The head came off an LP M I bought last spring and the engine was like new inside, the valves look pretty good. Prolly just lap them. As far as the engine it won't be to much just an overbore firecrater kit and some cam work..... ....Hey are all the rules finalized for mafmca

MAFMCA rules are done, but not updated on the website yet. I can e-mail them to you if you want - they're in a Word Document. Basically the same except 15.5's down to 2750 for the cut tire classes, and some wording to hopefully get/keep guys pulling in the right classes. If that doesn't work there was drastic discussion about running the dyno on top couple in non-cut classes and have a small allowance over stock, but that's a lot of work. Hopefully the wording will do the work without needing to mess with the Dyno! Probably the last thing anyone wants to do - help's hard enough to find now.

Stine has his head work done at crossleys in bloom. We usually have Mapco do the "easy" parts where they can just bore away, and then go in with a die grinder and get the harder to reach places. We port match the heads to the manifolds too - make sure the gasket isn't smaller than the ports. With what you're doing, I doubt you'll need todo much more than smooth things up a little and open it up underneath the valve itself. Too much isn't good, but I don't have a scientific way to tell you how much to go.

Mike,I do the Port work etc and send the head to Phil Miller to Surface the Head and cut in the valve seats, Depending on the head you have and what you are doing to your engine depends on how much work needs to be done to it! Cliff
