We will be looking to attend some "Real" Antique tractor pulls this Summer... Got tired of having to pull the JD "R" against 400+ HP Smokers... This year we will have at least a JD 60 and the "R"...not "Built, just good and ready to have an old-fashioned "Good" time with local COUNTY PULLERS...not against the ones with DEEP Pockets.. Anyone have any information..?? Hope so, it is time to plan for Spring and Summer..!! Ron..

Yes, I checked the Div rules...we pull in Div I and were pulling against Div IV Tractors... Not too bad, we only got beat by about 20 to 25 feet..and beat several...!!

Whats wrong with singers sled? We pull with them in probably 75% of the pulls we go to and dont have any trouble. They are a good bunch of guys. Sounds like somebody got beat and has nobody to blame but the sled.

What is "singers sled"..???..!!! We arent upset with anyone, except for the waiting 'till Midnight to pull at a supposedly "Antique County Pull", and then get thrown in with 400+HP Late model smokers..!! Remember, the old Girl (the "R") has 45 HP..?? We are just having a Great time, and want to "Pick out Pulls" for this comming year..!! Anyone care to share information about you pulls, date and location near Central Ohio..?? Thanks again..! Ron..

I really don't pull any Central Ohio. I pull mostly DCTPA. IF you want to pull the only pull i can think of that is a Central pull. Would be the one in March at Eaton, Ohio. I think that pull is the 2nd and 3rd.

I have to back Derek up on this. See Pull the Singer sled about all the pulls I go to and never have trouble. That sled starts a hole lot better than any other sled I pull. So the sleds is not to be blamed for your failers you should be balmed for how you weight your tractors. If you don"t weight them just right you are more likely to stand it right up. I now the singer"s really well. There are a bunch of really good guys. So stop blaming the sled and point the finger at your self instead of the singer sled.

You`ve obviously never watched what Singers do with their sled. Are you that stupid or sucking Joe`s dick?

Go to NATPA.com If your tractor is stock get into div1.The speed, tire, drawbar limits take the advantage out for cheating. As for dyno pulls,if you want to stiffle competition that should do it.It might be alright in a stone stock pull but it has no place in competitive classes.

Instead of complaning about "hot" tractors pulling against "stock" tractors (I pull one of each), limit the farm stock classes to "if it didn't come that way from the factory, don't pull it", limit the stock classes to "no cut tires, 1st gear, 10% over RPMs" and the hot classes "run what you brung and hope you brung enough". Everybody goes across the scale AFTER they pull for weight/hitch check. Anybody who complains, inspect THEIR tractor first. Don't pull for money, just for 1-2-3 place trophys.

MN Dave, all good ideas. Here's what's happened in my experience with each of these ideas, right or wrong. Look at Tunica, for example, the Farmstock class is supposed to be stock tractors - find me one that finished in the top 5.

** "limit the farm stock classes to "if it didn't come that way from the factory, don't pull it", " --- So, you can hide and M&W piston kit, Firecrater, etc. You can stroke the bejesus out of it, but God Forbid, you put a Powerblock in there... ** limit the stock classes to "no cut tires" --- Here's the whole road worn vs. cut arguments starting.
** 1st gear --- So people can start swapping out/making gears to go faster because they've built the motors to handle more speed. Then you have the tractors that were built with a creeper gear and those that 1st gear is 3MPH. I like a speed limit, combined with RPM, it's the great equalizer.

** 10% over RPMs --- Agree 100%
** hot classes "run what you brung and hope you brung enough" --- Amen, brother, as long as there's some limit on RPM to keep it safe for everyone and some class between this and stock.
** Don't pull for money, just for 1-2-3 place trophys. --- I hate trophies, nice to at least get your fuel and entry fees back though.

I feel for BushogPapa but if there's competition, somebody will do a little extra to win. Even if you take a stock bore/stroke tractor that you've rebuilt with hi comp pistons, your tractor is stock in your mind, but now has a leg up on the competition... As Earnhardt said in an interview right before the Daytona he got killed in. "I Hate restrictor plates. I thought we were here to see who could go the fastest." It'd be nice if everyone just played by the established rules and picked their class. Hard to find a "stock" class though.

I couln't agree with you more..!! We don't have ANY problem pulling against "Stock-but Built" tractors.....!! I don't care if it is a 140 HP JD 820..!!! It IS unfair, to have to pull against double-Turboed, Torque-amplified Late Model Smokers, with a Bole Stock JD "R"..!! When I want to watch Modifieds, I go to those pulls.. There are people who enjoy seeing these old tractors "do their thing", and we enjoy being envolved.. I wouldn't rebuild anything without doing "Something" to help it..even if it was to increase valve spring pressure or match the manifold/head match-up... You know what I'm saying....!!! There are "time constraints" with the sled, put when we are pulling against tractors that jerk the ENTIRE sled off the ground, and the operator in the sled is hanging on for dear life..... Get the picture.??!!!!!

The pulls in Glenford,Ohio would be much better if they`d get a better ,more honest sled than Singers. These guys are something else. All pullers should avoid pulls where singer`s sleds are.

It must just be me but I think someone is mad it himself for screwing up. Competitor stop blaming the Singer"s for your screw up. Just say you made a mistake on weighting your tractor or what ever you pull.

Not in central Ohio, but in North east Ohio, we have rules, enforced, to protect the stock tractor. The dates are wrong, but you can see rules at Link 3.5 MPH and a HP limit keep the hot guys out of the stock class!!!

I read the rules for Geauga club, and it says that winners must go on the dyno, but what are the limits for horsepower?

HP limits are on the top of the page, left side. HP limits are only for "A" class. I'll have the 2007 schedule up in a week or so.

Thanks Ron , I was beginning to think I was the only one that believes "antique stock" pullin' might be fun. Here in central MI it's the ones in the small out-lying "grain elevator" towns that don't even really publicize that have these type pulls. Usually dead-weight but not always. You will always find a couple "warmed over" tractors even at these but it's usually the guy that thinks he can win with money alone and usually can be beat by knowlege. Just makes it that much more fun when you can do that. You will probably have to visit the local farm type coffee shops or tractor and implement repair shops and such to get what you are asking. Good Luck Pullin'!
