I have a farmall 300 engine and I am trying to identify the head & block. Part of the head # is ground off and as near as i can read it is 36?479 R1, can,t read the 3rd number at all but think the 4th # is a 4, the head casting code is 7*25*A.
The block casting # is 362743 R2, C-169, and the casting code is7*26*A, and the ser# on the side of the block is 31084.

The ser# on the tractor it came out of is 18766.

Is this head a gas or a fuel head and what can I do to improve power ouput without buying another head. I am using it around the farm and maybe take it to the local pulls once in a while. I am using 3-5/8" pistons and sleeves and haviing the cam ground to 350 specs.

The cam are the same in the 169's and the 175. Its a gas engine, never had the dual fuel option in that engine. Early 300 engine,,, A codes were for first year production, so a 55 or a 56 production year. Give it a rebuild, fresh surfaces on the lifters rocker arm tips, shave the head a little, do some carb, governor, ign upgrades and do what ever you need the tractor to do. Real good power upgrade for the H,,,, ChadS
