ya know strange, sometimes i don't know. it's cheat er git beat these days. i don't stand a chance with my stocker anymore, and the guys with deeper pockets just keep gittin' fancier and i can't find a gear lower than 1st to out-lug em with. but hey, as long as I'm having fun and drivin the tractor back on the trailer every weeekend, it's fun.... right? some days i just don't know.

That's the way it's always been, weather it's antique pulling or otherwise. What I'm seeing now is what I call the second generation of antique pullers. Antique pulling first became popular in my area in the early 80's. At first it was a big attraction, lots of participants and spectators. But as the tractors became more refined and powerful, interest in it waned quite quickly, for a while I thought it would die completely. I actually quit for a couple years but couldn't find anything else I enjoyed as much to replace it. So now I am one of the guys pulling with more gray hair than dark and I'll probably be at it until I'm dead. A big differance between pulling now versus then is that there are a lot more products and services available "off the shelf" and HP is more attainable just by throwing money at the tractor. Eventually, this trend will phase out this generation of pullers. If your checkbook can't compete than neither will you.
