I have a John Deere A I am getting ready to rebuild as a stock puller. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what to do to it.

Thanks

Stock class is all about the driver, weight balance, tires & drawbar length. A few extra HP from the "A" with a straight exhaust, a dry air filter in the oil bath housing & a dyno session setting mixture/timing.

unless you have a late A with the straight 6 speed transmission, I don't think I'd build one exactly stock for pulling. However if yours is a late model than by all means find some good tires, make sure everything is reliable and running correctly, pile on some weight and have fun with your stock tractor.

Well if you are serious about the stock part of the pulling. You can't do anything other than some new rings, valves cleaned up, new wiring harness. There isn't anything wrong with a reground camshaft with a stock grind (I would recommend this highly) A final suggestion would include having the carb professionally rebuilt.

If you are thinking of "stock ++", then thats a whole other topic. (one that won't make you any friends)
