Anyone ever had their tires baked?

Someone was telling me about it and I was wondering where you can have it done, the cost, and what will my tire look like after its done. My new tires are a bit to soft and it's real tough to find a good used set in my size.

I know that Nascar teams will put a set of tires on durring practice and run them long enought to get them hot. Then take them off and save them for the race. They say that running them throught a heat cycle will harden them. They call them scuffs. I am not sure if nascar still lets the teams do this with current rules. So I believe the concept is correct.

I got some e-mail a while back from a senior tire and test engineer at Firestone. For the 30.5L-32 puller 2000 tires. The tires are first cut then placed in an oven at 250 degrees for 48 hours. This changes the durometer(hardness) of the rubber by allowing some of the waxes and oils to bake out of the tread compound.
To accomplish this, the tires are cut and mounted on rims the placed in the oven. One of the nice things you can do is "cure in" a tire profile(how round your tire is) by inflating the tire to a pressure higher than you plan to operate the tire at before you place in oven.
Caution: Do NOT exceed 300degrees F when baking in oven or the rubber will revert back to its soft state and become useless!

i think ya gotta deep fry em in a mixture of gatorade and battery acid till they look like the inside of your tail pipe or somethin like that

Hello,
I have heard of this but know nothing about it, I had a friend tell me once that you could put them in your grain bid, turn the heat up to about 160 and let them cook for a few days on one side, flip them over and let them cook for a few more days, or untill done in the middle, i guess you could season them but i dont know what you would use,
just my thought
