I am building a different pulling tractor. My neighbor gave me a alcohol carburator for a two cylinder. I have the engine tore down right now. What do I have to do to make that carb perform to maximum efficiency? My styled A has a power block and heistler head right now. Any suggestions will be greatly appriciated. Thankyou

If alcohol burns alot cooler and you have to use twice as much wouldnt you have a giant ice ball on your manifold? It would be kind of hard to hide that unless you dont have a rule that says you cant run alcohol.

yeah i agree theres alot of people with misconception of alcohol . the fact is its less dangerous than gas in pure form. but it is hard to see the flames from it in pure form. the dangers are when mixed with nitro ,acetone and hydrazine . if shaken it in a glass would loose fingures then all the drunks would have a hard time relieving themselves . but dont drink methanol youll go blind . may not be able to see youre fingures but they still be attached.

If you run alcohol, such as ethanol, you will need to run more fuel than you do with regular gasoline. There is information available, but if you are going to run E85, you will need approx. 27% more fuel per volume of air as compared to regular gasoline. As someone else mentioned, ethanol and methanol really start to show there benefits when compression is increased. As with any change to an engine, you will need to fine tune your ignition after you make the change. If you want links to articles that I have found on E85, let me know and I can sent them to you. I am not an expert engine or fuel guy, I just have read a lot about E85 for my job. And by the way, it is not any more dangerous than regular old gasoline is..... in fact the 1908 Model T was built to run on pure ethanol, gasoline or a blend of the two and in the 1850's ethanol was one of the most popular fuels for in-home lighting. Interesting facts considering today some people believe that 'it' will blow your fingers off.

We have played with both, Ethanol, and Methanol in all sorts of engines over the years. E85,,, has been one of the best fuels to experiment with. Ive mixed it with everything from pump gas to VP C-16 racing fuel. I ran the C-16/E100 in my old drag car a few times,,,, WHEW!!! White Lightning!! That ol 410 small block chevy never ran so strong! Mix i E85 with pump gas and can run some of the highest compression pressure engines, most famous found in antique stroker engines and run them cheaper than a race car fuel based engine. make more power too,,, Loves compression, you use more, for sure, but can make a good difference in power, and the pocket book.

you probably won't need to tell them you are burning alcohol, they will be able to smell it! Even E85 smells alot differen't.

if the jets have been changed for alcohol then slap it on and run it . i dont know how you would loose fingers shaking in glass beaker unless you added to much hydrazine in it. i dont recommend over 3 ccs to the gallon

first thing don't tell everyone your running alcohol or they wont let you pull, second, dont shake it up in a glass beeker or you might lose a finger or two?third, keep a fire exstigisher handy and watch out for flying debres.
