Wanna make your Ih 6 cyl run alot better and make power? Due to problems with opinion on why things work the way they do, will skip all the talk and go to the specs of the carb...

IH 715 combine carb:
part number 534932R91
Main jet size, .120
93 octane fuel
#35 venturi
Junk the electronic cut off on the carb bowl and replace with a adjustment screw from a M farmall,, dont forget the packing for the needle!

The differences,,,

The older carbs for the 6 cyls, ran smaller venturi"s, the new carbs built for the combine 301"s had a huge venturi, and an extra fuel port in the throttle body.
What that extra port helps is to feed that big venturi (#35) and not have a hesitation. it delivers a shot of fuel like an accelerator pump would. The older carbs do not have this circuit and when the big venturi is put into the old carb, the carb"s throttle body is limited on the fuel delivery. Not that it cant be rejetted, and work, but it makes the whole rpm range run very rich to get the best throttle responce. made a huge difference on my 460. ChadS

We need a good laugh...tell us your opinion on why the carburetors work the way they do. If it is anything like how you read a dyno, we want to hear it. I'm still laughing about that one.

Chads there are alot of so called EXPERTS that seem to know alot and are smarter than all of us But I appreciate all the information you post. If the others would read and keep their mouths shut or fingers still they might have a tractor to pull or learn something.

I do, what I do here, to help level the playing field in antique tractor pulling. The experts have all the fun,, let em! We are still a work in progress,, we all are. Just remember,, whats hot today,, maybe yesterdays news very soon. Pulling is about weight placement, not motor science which I get caught up in so much,,,, Im glad to know for myself,, that pulling, is alot easier than all that BS that comes from Egotistical maniacs who need an education in how to lose. Ive won, Ive lost, but I do what I do to have fun. Unfortunatly,, our fun, gets in the way of all the other bigger ego"s,,,, we improve,,, and they have to back up and punt!! So it knocks em down a peg or two. It takes courage to get back up from the drop we give em,,, When the smoke clears, the dust settles, the best will be right where they need to be on that given day. I appreciate the positive feedback! We will not go down without a fight, Im geting tired of doing it here on a keyboard, bout ready to get back on the tracks and see what they have to say then. Thank you, and God Bless! ChadS

With the way you read a dyno, 300hp should be easy.

Does the head need to be ported inorder for this to be effective?

Exhaust porting helps, but can be used in stock port heads. Its good from going from 1900 rpm to up to 2800 rpm.
